Daniele Foti-Cuzzola
Benvenuto! My name is Daniele Foti-Cuzzola and I am a writer, publicist, marketing consultant and passionate home cook, based in Perth, Western Australia. Growing up as a first-generation Italo-Australian, whose parents regularly returned to Italy I had a unique perspective of two very different cultures. At home in Australia, we lived a very Italian lifestyle. Weekends were spent making our own olive oil, sauce, sausages and wine; we regularly attended Italian mass, road trips were not complete without playing both sides of a Claudio Baglioni or Toto Catugno audio cassette tape, and my brother and I were taught the value of a Sette Bello playing card long before we discovered what a Draw Four meant in Uno.
These points of difference between myself and my classmates led me to identify with my Italian heritage, and regular trips to Italy and an exchange stint in Molise, reaffirmed my love for Il Bel Paese, La Dolce Vita and Italian Food.
With this unique perspective of different cultures, I have made it my mission to work on projects that celebrate and showcase cultural minorities. As a journalist, I have written for publications including The Sunday Times, Segmento, Scoop and The Record and I am currently working on a bi-lingual children’s book.
I have also appeared on SBS’ The Chef’s Line as part of their Italian Week and regularly present a cultural segment on Foxtel’s The Couch. I have also appeared Channel Nine’s The Pulse and was the Youth Ambassador for the 2017 Lavazza Italian Film Festival and Ambassador for Little Italy By the Sea Festival.
As a marketing consultant and publicist, I have worked on a number of multicultural projects including West Australian Opera’s seasons of Don Giovanni, Carmen and Tosca, and The Town of Bassendean’s NAIDOC Week celebrations.
When I am not managing multiple projects I enjoy sharing my passion of Italian culture and cuisine and on this site, you will find a series of recipes, tips, cultural articles and interviews with notable personalities who will share their cooking and cultural inspirations with you. I also run a series of Italian cooking workshops from my home in Western Australia and am available for school incursions and staff team bonding days. I hope you find some inspiration here and I look forward to having you as part of this journey.
From my kitchen to yours!
Buon Appetito!
Daniele
